Laser Tracker Inspection Engineer

About the role

Astrobase Space Technologies is seeking a Laser Tracker Inspection Engineer to support the dimensional inspection, alignment and verification of large aerospace structures and launch vehicle components. You will operate state‑of‑the‑art laser tracking and metrology equipment to ensure that fabricated parts meet engineering specifications and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, calibrate and operate laser tracker systems (Leica, FARO, Hexagon, API) for 3‑D coordinate measurements.
• Perform geometric inspections such as flatness, straightness, perpendicularity, concentricity and profile verification on airframes, welding fixtures and integration stages.
• Compare measured data with CAD models, engineering drawings and GD&T requirements, and generate inspection reports.
• Support First Article Inspection, process validation and final quality inspections, marking any deviations for corrective action.
• Assist in alignment and installation of large sections, structures, machines and equipment during assembly.
• Maintain laser tracker equipment, perform routine maintenance, verify calibration status and ensure traceability of measuring instruments.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or diploma in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Production Engineering, Metrology or a related discipline.
• 2‑5 years of experience in dimensional inspection, metrology or laser tracker operations.
• Ability to report equipment malfunctions and coordinate repairs.

Required skills

• Proficiency with laser tracker systems (Leica, FARO, Hexagon, API).
• Strong knowledge of dimensional inspection techniques and GD&T.
• Experience reading and interpreting CAD models and engineering drawings.
• Capability to perform equipment calibration and routine maintenance.
