Health Visitor (B7) – Community Health

About the role

The West Dunbartonshire Children and Families Team is seeking an enthusiastic Health Visitor to join the Vale of Leven Health and Care Centre. Working autonomously, you will manage a caseload and deliver high‑quality community health visiting services to families across the area.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a caseload, overseeing assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the Universal Health Visiting Pathway and additional care programmes.
• Apply safeguarding expertise to protect children and support child‑protection processes.
• Collaborate with partner agencies to coordinate support for children and families.
• Exercise professional judgement and decision‑making in an autonomous practice setting.
• Implement GIRFEC principles throughout all aspects of care delivery.
• Deliver the national Universal Health Visiting Pathway to ensure consistent, high‑quality family support.

Required profile

• Must hold a valid car driver’s licence for community travel.
• Registered with the NMC as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse/Health Visitor.
• Demonstrated expertise in health‑visiting practice, child protection and the GIRFEC framework.
• Proven ability to work independently with strong clinical judgement.
• Commitment to ongoing learning and development provided by West Dunbartonshire HSCP.
