Head of Corporate Affairs

About the role

We are seeking a seasoned leader to head our Corporate Affairs function for a thermal power plant business unit. The role will drive the development and execution of strategies that engage government agencies, regulators and key external stakeholders to support operational and strategic goals.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement comprehensive engagement strategies with government bodies, regulatory agencies and other external partners.
• Lead the acquisition, renewal and management of all permits, licences and approvals required for projects and plant operations.
• Ensure full compliance with environmental regulations and standards, working closely with internal teams to remediate gaps.
• Build and sustain strong relationships with officials, bureaucrats and politicians to facilitate smooth project execution.
• Monitor regulatory developments and policy shifts, providing strategic insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
• Represent the business unit in high‑level negotiations and discussions with external stakeholders.
• Align regulatory requirements with operational practices across the organization.
• Enhance the unit’s reputation among local communities, industry bodies and other key stakeholders.
• Advise the CEO and leadership on corporate affairs and compliance matters.
• Lead crisis‑management initiatives related to regulatory or stakeholder issues.

Required profile

• Minimum 20 years of proven experience in corporate affairs, regulatory compliance or stakeholder engagement within the power or energy sector.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex permitting processes and navigate government relations.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret regulatory changes and assess impact.
• Excellent communication and negotiation capabilities with senior officials and public authorities.
• Track record of leading crisis‑management efforts and safeguarding corporate reputation.
