General Manager (GM) – Projects (Lab Construction)

About the role

The General Manager – Projects will own the end‑to‑end delivery of laboratory facilities, from concept design through construction to handover. This senior position requires deep expertise in lab‑specific fit‑outs, cleanroom environments, and compliance with stringent regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the full lifecycle of laboratory construction, including civil works, MEP, HVAC zoning, gas distribution, and cleanroom installation.
• Ensure layouts optimise workflow and meet GLP, ISO, NABL, and FDA requirements.
• Source, evaluate, and negotiate with contractors and vendors on techno‑commercial terms.
• Manage project budgets, monitor costs, and deliver projects within financial targets.
• Oversee cross‑functional site teams and act as the primary liaison for all stakeholders.

Required profile

• 12–18 years of experience in laboratory setup, turnkey cleanrooms, or pharma infrastructure engineering.
• B.E. / B.Tech in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical engineering.
• Proven track record of delivering complex lab or cleanroom projects on time and within budget.

Required skills

• HVAC system design and zoning for laboratory environments.
• Civil and structural engineering for lab facilities.
• MEP integration and gas distribution systems.
• Cleanroom and fume‑hood fit‑out expertise.
• Compliance knowledge of GLP, ISO, NABL and FDA standards.
• Vendor negotiation and budget management.
