Full Stack Engineer - API First Digital Strategy

About the role

Barclays is hiring a Full Stack Engineer in Pune to drive its API-first digital strategy. The engineer builds and manages robust, scalable and secure APIs that deliver digital solutions to customers, working within the Corporate Digital Banking area of Technology.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and improve software that provides business, platform and technology capabilities for customers and colleagues.
• Deliver high-quality software using industry-aligned languages, frameworks and tools, keeping code scalable, maintainable and performance-optimized.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers and other engineers to define requirements, devise solution strategies and integrate with business objectives.
• Take part in code reviews, share knowledge and stay informed of technology trends.
• Follow secure coding practices and implement unit testing to protect sensitive data.

Required profile

• Hands-on full-stack coding experience with Core Java, JPA/Hibernate, Spring and basic caching.
• Experience building secure, scalable applications following enterprise design principles.
• Ability to take part in code reviews and apply feedback.
• Good communication skills and team collaboration.

Required skills

• Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot, Spring-Data), RESTful APIs and OpenAPI/Swagger.
• API security (OAuth2, JWT) and relational databases, with exposure to NoSQL.
• Microservices, event-driven design, Maven, Git and CI/CD pipelines.
• Agile, unit testing and test automation; cloud platforms such as AWS or OpenShift.
• Nice to have: frontend (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Angular or React), SQL optimization, Docker, Kafka, Selenium, API documentation tools.
