Vice President - Data Architect

About the role

Barclays is hiring a Vice President - Data Architect in Pune, India, within its Wholesale Shared Services business area and Data & Analytics expertise. The role plays a key part in shaping and evolving the data architecture strategy, helping to improve trading applications across the organisation so that teams can make decisions more consistently and at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse and document business requirements and turn them into data models aligned with organisational goals
• Maintain data dictionaries and glossaries defining data elements and their usage
• Monitor data usage patterns with the Data Base Administrator to find opportunities for optimisation
• Define and document data architecture standards, principles and strategies
• Design logical data models and produce logical designs covering processes, objects, data flows, inputs, stored data and outputs
• Implement architectures, identify and resolve design-related issues, and select products
• Contribute to or set strategy, plan resources and budgets, and manage policies and processes
• Manage and mitigate risks in line with control and governance, and advise senior management on cross-functional impacts

Required profile

• Experience in investment banking, including financial markets, with end-to-end trade lifecycles and front-to-back data flow
• Proven experience designing and driving adoption of unified data models such as Client, Banking and Trade data representations
• Advanced data architecture capability, including data flow design, logical and physical data modelling and translating requirements into scalable solutions
• Ability to work with engineering teams on upstream (trade capture) and downstream (post-trade) systems
• Strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills
