Estimation Engineer I – Cellulosic Projects

About the role

AkzoNobel is looking for an Estimation Engineer I to develop accurate basic estimates and quotes for cellulosic passive fire protection (PFP) projects. After a training period, you will support the sales team by delivering reliable cost information for steel and fire‑protection products.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse drawings, material lists, specifications and other documentation to produce estimation reports for cellulosic projects.
• Use PlanSwift or similar estimating software to generate steel schedules.
• Perform manual assessments or use Intercalc estimation software to calculate costs.
• Coordinate with sales on scope changes, questions and clarifications throughout the bidding process.
• Log estimates in the CRM system and track them for management.
• Collaborate with functional departments to develop complete estimates.
• Maintain knowledge of Interchar fire‑protection products, competitor offerings and industry standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
• 1‑5 years of customer or support experience, preferably in the coatings or fire‑protection industry.
• Strong ability to read and interpret structural engineering and architectural drawings.
• Solid understanding of structural steelwork and general engineering principles.
• Basic knowledge of paint technology and passive fire‑protection principles is a plus.

• CRM system usage for logging estimates.
• Mathematical calculation skills for cost estimation.
