Engineering Lead - Enterprise AI Platform

About the role

Aion is an enterprise AI platform that builds, fine-tunes and deploys AI at scale, with teams across the US, UK and India. It is looking for an experienced engineering leader in Bengaluru to lead the design and delivery of its core platform and infrastructure, and to build and grow a high-performing engineering team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of the core platform and infrastructure, set engineering standards and make strategic technical decisions
• Review system designs, technical proposals and implementation plans
• Lead, mentor and grow a team of software engineers, covering hiring, onboarding, performance management and career development
• Establish engineering best practices for code quality, testing, documentation, security and operational readiness
• Partner with Product, Design, AI, Infrastructure and Customer Success teams to deliver scalable solutions
• Drive project planning, prioritization and delivery while managing technical debt
• Build resilient, highly available systems and improve observability, monitoring, incident response and CI/CD pipelines
• Represent engineering in customer discussions, technical workshops and strategic planning, and contribute to the technology roadmap

Required profile

• 8+ years building and scaling software platforms, distributed systems or enterprise applications
• 2+ years leading engineering teams in a fast-paced startup or high-growth environment
• Strong background in distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, AI platforms or enterprise software
• Product-minded, able to balance scalability, reliability, developer experience and customer success

Required skills

• Golang preferred; Python, Rust, Java or C++ a plus
• Distributed systems, microservices, cloud-native apps, API design, Kubernetes, Docker, IaC
• Databases, caching, messaging, event-driven architectures
• Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry and distributed tracing
• Desirable: AI infrastructure, LLM deployment, MLOps, AWS/Azure/GCP, Terraform, multi-tenant SaaS, internal developer platforms
