Engineer - Long Duration Energy Storage

About the role

We are seeking an Engineer specialized in Long Duration Energy Storage to support technology diligence, benchmarking and design of electro‑chemical and thermo‑mechanical battery solutions for renewable power and green steam applications.

Key responsibilities

• Create management reports on technology diligence and benchmarking with conventional technologies.
• Work with cross‑functional teams to collect and analyse data, providing a holistic view of technologies from the RIL perspective.
• Develop and use Excel‑based calculations and templates for design and efficiency estimation.
• Perform Aspen Plus simulations and first‑principles evaluations of battery technologies.
• Conduct literature and patent searches to gain detailed insight into emerging storage technologies.
• Carry out technical due diligence, benchmark prospective technologies and recommend pursuit decisions.
• Estimate overall energy balance, identify energy loss points and develop BOM for CAPEX estimation.
• Perform economic calculations for levelized cost of electricity/steam and build hourly intermittency management models.
• Optimize PV solar, wind and battery designs to meet power and steam requirements.
• Prepare RFQs, compare proposals and support selection of technologies for demo or pilot projects.

Required profile

• Proven experience evaluating electrochemical or thermo‑mechanical battery systems.
• Ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams and synthesize technical data.
• Strong analytical skills for energy balance and economic modeling.
• Familiarity with renewable power integration (PV solar, wind) and green steam applications.
