Director, Taxation - India Corporate Tax

About the role

The Director, Taxation – Corporate Tax will lead CIBC India's corporate tax function, ensuring full compliance with Indian tax laws while providing strategic tax advice to support business initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Manage corporate tax compliance for all CIBC India entities, including filing, reporting and documentation.
• Provide tax advisory services for transactions, product launches and strategic projects.
• Monitor changes in Indian tax legislation and assess impact on the business.
• Identify and mitigate tax risks, ensuring alignment with global tax policies.
• Collaborate with finance, legal and business teams to integrate tax considerations into decision‑making.

Required profile

• Extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in Indian corporate tax compliance and advisory.
• Proven ability to lead a tax team and manage complex tax projects.
• Strong understanding of Indian tax regulations, indirect taxes and international tax principles.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Effective communication skills to interact with senior stakeholders.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of Indian corporate tax law.
• Experience with tax compliance software and ERP systems.
