Design Engineer - Exterior

About the role

The company is seeking a Design Engineer specialized in exterior components for passenger vehicles. The role is based in Chennai and targets candidates with 3 to 9 years of experience in automotive exterior design.

Key responsibilities

• Design exterior parts while considering packaging constraints, material selection, thickness and grade.
• Develop designs that are manufacturable and easy to assemble (DFM/DFA).
• Create sheet‑metal and plastic components using CATIA V5.
• Apply tolerance analysis and GD&T to ensure fit and function.
• Collaborate with suppliers for part development and support testing activities.
• Participate in the full product development lifecycle from concept to production.
• Conduct DFMEA and support DV/PV testing of exterior parts.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years (mid‑level) or 6‑9 years (senior) of experience in exterior design for passenger vehicles.
• Strong knowledge of all exterior components and their functional requirements.
• Ability to work on packaging, material properties, and thickness decisions.
• Experience with supplier interaction and part testing.
