Design Engineer - Electrical

About the role

The Design Engineer – Electrical will lead the planning, coordination and technical oversight of all electrical systems for a large public‑space development. You will ensure that power distribution, lighting, public‑address, ELV and other utilities are safe, energy‑efficient, resilient and ready for future expansion.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review electrical design drawings, schematics, single‑line diagrams, load schedules and panel board schedules.
• Design and calculate power distribution, lighting, earthing, lightning protection, fire alarm, public‑address and ELV systems.
• Perform load estimation, cable sizing, short‑circuit and voltage‑drop calculations using appropriate software or manual methods.
• Coordinate with architects, MEP, civil and HVAC engineers to deliver integrated design solutions.
• Validate and manage external MEP consultants to ensure compliance with local codes, IEC, IS standards and NBC requirements.
• Review vendor drawings and equipment submittals for technical compliance.
• Support the preparation of BOQ, technical specifications and tender documents.
• Lead design reviews, value‑engineering sessions and technical meetings.
• Assist during installation, testing and commissioning to verify design intent.
• Maintain accurate documentation of drawings, calculations and revisions in line with QA procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• LEED or other sustainability certification (preferred).
• 10+ years of experience in sustainable design and energy‑efficient electrical systems.
• Strong knowledge of building automation, smart‑building technologies and green‑building standards (LEED/IGBC).
• Proven experience with BIM coordination and clash‑detection tools.

• AutoCAD and Revit MEP.
• MS Office suite.

• ELV system design (CCTV, access control, data and communication).
• AI‑based smart‑building systems, lighting control and energy‑management solutions.
