Deli Chef / Cook

About the role

The Deli Chef / Cook will ensure the food production area runs smoothly and efficiently, delivering high‑quality fresh products to customers throughout the day. This full‑time role is based in a busy retail environment and focuses on preparing, presenting and maintaining a diverse deli offering.

Key responsibilities

• Cook, prepare and display fresh deli items in line with Centra brand standards.
• Complete all customer orders to the highest standard of taste and presentation.
• Support day‑to‑day food production operations, including cleaning and equipment maintenance.
• Carry out regular stock takes and assist with cost‑price calculations, portion control and waste reduction.
• Help induct, train and develop junior staff in food preparation and safety procedures.
• Participate in any training programmes directed by store management.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years experience in fresh food preparation or a deli environment.
• Proven ability to meet sales targets and key performance indicators.
• Strong passion for the food industry with a creative approach to product offering.
• Customer‑focused mindset with the ability to build a loyal clientele.

Required skills

• HACCP and food safety certification.
• Stocktaking and inventory management.
• Portion control and cost‑price calculation.
