Data Modeller

About the role

Barclays is hiring a Data Modeller in Pune, India, within its Chief Technology Office, Data & Analytics business area. The role is permanent and involves designing, implementing and maintaining conceptual, logical and physical data models that meet business, process and technology requirements across a wide range of platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse and document business requirements and turn them into data models aligned with organisational goals.
• Maintain data dictionaries and glossaries defining data elements and their usage.
• Monitor data usage patterns with the Database Administrator to find opportunities for optimisation.
• Define and document data architecture standards, principles and strategies.
• Produce logical designs covering processes, objects, data flows, inputs, stored data and outputs, and resolve design-related issues.
• Contribute to or set strategy, plan resources and budgets, and advise stakeholders and senior management.

Required profile

• Strong logical data modelling skills, including creating, reviewing and integrating enterprise-level logical data models.
• Strong business data knowledge, understanding business concepts and requirements across business units.
• Strong data analysis skills, including assessing data structures and identifying inconsistencies.
• Ability to translate business data requirements into clear model content.

Required skills

• Desirable: experience with JSON or similar structured formats such as XML.
• Desirable: knowledge of physical data design.
• Desirable: experience with metadata management, including business definitions, data lineage and model metadata.
