Consultant – Indirect Tax (GST) – AMI – Kolkata

About the role

The role is based in Kolkata within EY’s Advanced Manufacturing, Mobility & Infrastructure (AMI) tax practice. As a Consultant you will support clients on indirect tax matters, focusing on Goods and Services Tax (GST) compliance, documentation and advisory services.

Key responsibilities

• Review GST returns prepared by junior team members and identify technical or compliance gaps.
• Support the preparation, validation and filing of GST returns, ensuring accuracy and adherence to timelines.
• Maintain indirect tax documentation, perform reconciliations and track compliance for client engagements.
• Assist in tax advisory and compliance workstreams aligned with GST regulations and broader indirect tax practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Commerce degree.
• At least 2 years of experience in data analysis or related tax work.
• Ability to work collaboratively across client departments while meeting commercial and legal requirements.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of GST law and indirect tax concepts.
• Experience with GST return preparation, review and filing.
• Proficiency in tax documentation, reconciliations and compliance tracking.
• Data analysis skills.
