About the role
The Commis II will support the culinary team at JW Marriott Goa by preparing ingredients, cooking under supervision, and maintaining a clean, safe kitchen environment. This full‑time, on‑site position offers the chance to develop practical kitchen skills in a leading hotel.
Key responsibilities
- Portion, chop, wash, peel, and store fresh fruits and vegetables.
- Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes.
- Prepare and cook food, including cold dishes, while meeting quality and presentation standards.
- Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers safely.
- Test food for doneness and monitor quality throughout preparation.
- Set up and break down work stations, serve food in proper portions, and maintain proper receptacles.
- Wash and disinfect kitchen areas, tools, knives, and equipment; verify appliance and food temperatures.
- Follow company safety, security, and hygiene policies; report any hazards or incidents.
Required profile
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- At least one year of experience in food preparation or a similar kitchen role.
- No supervisory experience required.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 25 lb and perform repetitive motions for an entire shift.
Required skills
- Food preparation (portioning, chopping, washing).
- Operation of cooking equipment (ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, fryers).
- Measuring, mixing, and following recipes.
- Basic food safety and hygiene practices.
