Commis II – Kitchen Assistant

About the role
We are looking for a motivated Commis II to join the kitchen team at JW Marriott Goa. The successful candidate will support the culinary team by preparing ingredients, cooking simple dishes and maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, washing, peeling, weighing, measuring and mixing.
- Cook food according to recipes, quality and presentation standards, and complete food preparation checklists.
- Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers, and test foods for proper doneness.
- Monitor food quality, temperature of appliances and food, and ensure compliance with safety and hygiene policies.
- Set‑up and break‑down work stations, serve food in proper portions, and maintain a clean kitchen area.
- Report maintenance needs, accidents or unsafe conditions and complete required safety training.
Required profile
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- At least 1 year of related kitchen or food‑service experience.
- Ability to stand, walk or sit for extended periods and lift objects up to 25 lb.
- Willingness to follow company policies, maintain professional appearance and protect confidential information.
Required skills
- Operating kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers.
- Food portioning, chopping and basic cooking techniques.
- Food safety practices, including temperature monitoring and sanitation.
