Commis I – Chinese Cuisine

About the role

We’re looking for a detail‑oriented and organized Commis – I (Chinese) to join our culinary team in Gurugram, India. In this entry‑level chef position you will work under senior chefs to prepare authentic Chinese cuisine while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and kitchen efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook Chinese dishes according to established recipes and culinary standards.
• Assist in food preparation, including washing, peeling, cutting, and organizing ingredients.
• Maintain proper food safety and hygiene protocols in all kitchen operations.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, such as woks, steamers, and specialized Chinese cooking tools.
• Support senior chefs in executing daily meal service with precision.
• Organize and maintain mise en place for assigned stations.
• Collaborate with kitchen team members to ensure smooth workflow and timely food preparation.
• Monitor inventory levels and report ingredient usage as directed.
• Follow plating and presentation standards to ensure consistency and quality.
• Assist in training and mentoring junior kitchen staff when required.
• Maintain a clean and organized workstation throughout service.

Required profile

• Proficiency in Chinese cooking techniques and methods.
• Strong knowledge of Chinese cuisine ingredients, flavor profiles, and regional specialties.
• Demonstrated knife skills and food preparation techniques.
• Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards and regulations.
• Ability to follow recipes and cooking instructions with precision.
• Strong time‑management and multitasking abilities in a fast‑paced kitchen environment.
