Cashier

About the role

The Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at a branch, ensuring compliance with internal and external banking guidelines. The role involves accurate processing of deposits, withdrawals, cheque handling, and end‑of‑day reconciliation.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash for deposit challans.
• Maintain inward/outward registers, petty cash register, assets register and submit requisitions to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tallying, prepare end‑of‑day reports and ensure proper vault operations jointly with the Operations Officer.
• Interact with customers, provide courteous service, explain repayment dates and promote bank products.
• Ensure compliance with turnaround times, regulatory requirements and bank policies for all cashier operations.
• Validate customer authenticity during cash withdrawals and verify cash deposit slips for audit purposes.
• Update bank passbooks and process cash bundles for currency chest deposits.
