Buyer – Technical Procurement (Category Sourcing)

About the role

The Buyer will support the procurement function by ensuring technical specifications match vendor offerings and by leading the first round of negotiations for assigned categories. This role works closely with internal users, senior buyers and the buying manager to secure the right items for plant operations.

Key responsibilities

• Float enquiries for assigned items based on user requirements.
• Validate technical requirements against vendor specifications and flag any gaps to senior buyers.
• Conduct first‑round negotiations with vendors and provide detailed recommendations to the buying manager.
• Place orders for finalized items and record transactions accurately in the SAP system.
• Respond promptly to internal and external audit queries related to procurement and escalate when necessary.

Required profile

• B.Tech or B.E. degree.
• 2‑6 years of experience in category‑based sourcing, manufacturing procurement, or supply management within a plant environment.
• Strong analytical mindset and good written/oral communication skills.
• Understanding of equipment, process and maintenance activities.
• Commercial acumen to assess vendor proposals.
