Buyer – Exterior Commodities (Glass & Mirror)

About the role

The Buyer – Exterior Commodities will support post‑commercial purchasing activities from contract sign‑off through end of production for glass, mirror and related plastic components serving the North America market. The role requires close collaboration with cross‑functional teams and suppliers to ensure cost‑effective and on‑time delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Manage operational purchasing activities for exterior commodities, placing accurate Purchase Orders and Transfer Orders.
• Execute multi‑year and calendar‑year cost claims, perform cost analysis, and validate engineering change costs.
• Develop zero‑based cost models, review tooling costs, and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
• Lead commercial discussions, negotiations, and resolve supply issues with suppliers.
• Collaborate with North America Category Buyers, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Quality teams.
• Support capacity uplift initiatives, de‑risking actions, contingency planning, and cost optimisation.
• Provide regular status updates and escalations to management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• 4–10 years of experience in commodity purchasing, procurement or strategic sourcing.
• Prior experience in an OEM automotive environment.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and negotiation abilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Willingness to work a late evening shift (2:00 PM – 11:30 PM IST) to support North America stakeholders.
