Design Lead Electrical – Primary – Substation

About the role

The Design Lead (Primary) will prepare, review and execute primary engineering activities for substation projects, focusing on layout engineering and BIM 3D model development. The role requires close interaction with site execution teams and multidisciplinary coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Timely review of the drawings developed by the draftsman.
• Interact with Site Execution & Cluster teams for design clarifications.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary checks (Civil, Structural, MEP, Instrumentation) for design concurrence.
• Ensure compliance with specification requirements.
• Review 2D & 3D drawings and documentation according to quality systems.
• Review vendor offers and related documents.
• Perform pre‑tender engineering, including BOM estimation and offer reviews.
• Prepare design calculations for substation equipment (busbar, UPS, DG, LT transformer, earthing conductor) and related analyses (short‑circuit, sag tension, etc.).

Required profile

• B.E. / B.Tech. in Electrical or Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
• 8‑12 years of experience in primary engineering design for substations or power distribution projects.
• Experience with AIS/GIS substations up to 400 kV is preferred.

Required skills

• BIM 3D modeling for substations.
• Electrical layout engineering and design calculations (busbar, UPS, DG, LT transformer, earthing, short‑circuit, sag tension).
• Pre‑tender engineering, BOM estimation and vendor offer review.
