Booth Operator

About the role

Oerlikon is seeking a Booth Operator to manage the thermal‑spray coating booth in Tumakuru. You will be responsible for operating ABB robots, ensuring production quality, and maintaining a safe, clean work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Execute thermal‑spray coating on components using ABB robot technology.
• Oversee full booth operations for the shift, including production, preventive maintenance, and quality control.
• Implement and follow all HSE and quality instructions.
• Maintain hygiene, 5S standards, and housekeeping in the production area.
• Assist the shift leader with daily production activities.
• Handle, clean, fixture, and de‑fixture substrates.
• Perform grit blasting of substrates, fixtures, and machine parts.
• Disassemble and re‑assemble fixtures for maintenance.
• Support development of new component applications.
• Update and maintain production, HSE, and quality documentation.
• Operate and perform routine maintenance on robots, HVOF, plasma, and flame spray equipment.
• Operate and maintain the gas bank in line with Oerlikon HSE standards.

Required profile

• ITI/Diploma/BE in Mechanical or Electrical engineering with relevant certification.
• 1–4 years of experience operating ABB robots for thermal‑spray processes.
• Minimum 2 years experience as a shift lead or engineer in a mechanical/service environment.
• Knowledge of thermal‑spray technologies (HVOF, plasma) is preferred.
• Basic understanding of HSE and quality management systems.
• Good communication skills.
