BIM Specialist – Mechanical Services (Chennai)

About the role

AECOM India is seeking a dynamic Mechanical BIM Specialist to join its Chennai office. The role will support technically challenging, internationally recognized projects across multiple infrastructure sectors, delivering high‑quality engineering solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and coordinate detailed 3D BIM models for HVAC, piping, mechanical equipment, and associated systems.
• Produce construction documentation including plans, sections, elevations, schedules, and detailed drawings from BIM models.
• Generate BOQs and material take‑offs directly from Revit models.
• Prepare coordinated production drawings in line with BIM Execution Plans and company standards.
• Manage drawing sets, revisions, mark‑ups, and document control procedures.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary models, perform model federation, geo‑location, and clash detection.
• Conduct BIM reviews, quality checks, model audits, and coordination workshops.
• Utilise Autodesk Navisworks for clash detection and interdisciplinary coordination.
• Support development and implementation of BIM standards, workflows, and best practices.
• Create project visualisations, renderings, and presentation material as required.

Required profile

• Diploma, B.E. or B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of BIM modeling experience in Mechanical Building Services.
• Experience on large‑scale projects such as Data Centers, Healthcare, Aviation, Semiconductor, Advanced Manufacturing or Commercial Facilities.
• Strong knowledge of BIM coordination, clash detection, BIM standards and model management.
• Understanding of building construction methodologies and engineering drafting standards.
• Excellent communication, coordination and problem‑solving abilities.
