Bakery Commis I

About the role

The Bakery Commis I supports the kitchen team in preparing high‑quality bakery items and special meals in a fast‑paced hotel environment. You will work closely with the Chef and service staff to ensure consistency, safety, and guest satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare special meals, substitute items and cold foods according to recipes and presentation standards.
• Regulate temperatures of ovens, broilers, grills and roasters; pull and thaw items from freezer storage.
• Maintain proper portioning, arrangement, garnish and food logs.
• Monitor food quality and quantity, inform Chef of excess items and communicate menu specials or out‑of‑stock items to service staff.
• Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling and employee coaching as needed.
• Follow safety, security and hygiene policies; report maintenance issues, accidents or unsafe conditions.
• Perform physical duties such as standing for long periods, lifting up to 25 lb, and reaching overhead.

Required profile

• Technical, trade or vocational school degree.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant bakery or food‑preparation experience.
• No supervisory experience required.
• Ability to work full‑time in an onsite hotel kitchen.
