AVP - Controls Assurance

About the role

Barclays is hiring an Assistant Vice President for Controls Assurance in Mumbai. The role sits in the Controls Testing Team and covers controls across Credit, Market, Capital & Treasury, Model Risk, Climate and Operational Risk, across legal entities such as Barclays Bank UK, Barclays Bank Ireland, BBPLC and BPLC. You will partner with business partners to safeguard the bank's integrity and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Provide independent assurance on control processes and advise on improvements to the internal controls framework.
• Carry out ad-hoc assessments and testing of the design and operational effectiveness of controls, aligned to control policies and standards.
• Develop detailed test plans and procedures to identify weaknesses and prioritise mitigation by severity of impact on operations, losses and reputation.
• Communicate key findings to stakeholders and business units and recommend corrective actions to senior managers.
• Work with other control professionals to resolve complex issues and keep testing methodologies consistent across the bank.
• Build a knowledge centre documenting control assessments, findings and training material on internal controls.

Required profile

• Proven experience of controls testing in any risk discipline and team management.
• Able to work independently and in global and virtual teams, with initiative, sound judgement and problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.
• Line management experience for managing others.
• Desirable: Master's degree or equivalent, proven risk/audit/internal controls experience, and expertise across Microsoft applications (Excel, Excel macros).
