Assistant Vice President – Tax

About the role

Barclays is seeking an Assistant Vice President – Tax to lead tax advisory, compliance and risk management for its Mumbai operations. The role supports the bank’s financial strategy through expert tax analysis and stakeholder engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Manage tax risks arising from business activities, investments and financial transactions, developing mitigation strategies.
• Analyse complex tax issues to support planning, compliance and risk initiatives.
• Liaise with tax authorities, resolve legacy tax risks and ensure accurate tax reporting.
• Identify and assess tax risks linked to mergers, acquisitions and restructuring, and implement mitigation measures.
• Monitor tax law developments and advise on their impact to the organisation.
• Prepare or review tax returns and tax accounting calculations in line with applicable standards.
• Design and operate tax process controls to support risk management and compliance.

Required profile

• Qualified Chartered Accountant with solid experience in taxation.
• Experience in MNC or Big‑4 environments, advising Global Service Centre (GSC) clients.
• Strong networking and people‑management capabilities.
• Deep understanding of tax issues related to offshoring business.
