Associate General Counsel (Legal)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced, business‑focused legal professional to join our team as Associate General Counsel. In this senior position you will partner directly with business and functional leaders across India, providing proactive legal advice that aligns with strategic priorities while ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and internal policies.

Key responsibilities

• Provide senior legal support to business units, advising on corporate governance, regulatory interpretation, and major commercial decisions.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate legal and regulatory risks, delivering clear, practical recommendations.
• Strengthen local governance frameworks, escalation protocols, and reporting practices.
• Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements, including technology, services, licensing, and strategic partnerships.
• Manage external counsel relationships and oversee dispute resolution, litigation, and pre‑litigation matters.
• Support mergers and acquisitions, corporate transactions, and compliance initiatives.
• Develop policies, playbooks, and governance materials to improve consistency and efficiency.

Required profile

• Minimum 15 years of post‑qualification legal experience, with senior in‑house or reputable law firm background.
• Strong commercial contracting expertise and a proven track record advising senior stakeholders on complex legal and regulatory issues.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment in ambiguous, high‑impact situations and to communicate risks effectively.
