Assistant Vice President - Treasury Financial Control

About the role

Barclays is hiring an Assistant Vice President for Treasury Financial Control in Chennai, India, within its Finance team. The role leads and delivers International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) implementation for the Treasury, covering impairment, classification and measurement, including the new standard for local entity reporting where applicable. The position is permanent and based in Chennai.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the preparation and presentation of accurate, timely financial statements and accounting records in line with accounting standards, rules and regulations.
• Support the identification, assessment and mitigation of financial risks and report them to senior colleagues.
• Maintain a robust system of internal controls to safeguard assets and prevent fraudulent misreporting, assessing their effectiveness regularly.
• Develop and implement up-to-date financial policies and procedures.
• Manage the selection, implementation and maintenance of financial systems and software, collaborating with IT colleagues to integrate them with other enterprise systems.
• Prepare and submit statutory and regulatory reports, support other departments in reviewing them, and coordinate with external auditors and regulators.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant with post-qualification experience (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
• Prior experience in a finance role, especially month-end or quarter-end reporting.
• Previous experience in banking and project management.
• Experience working with finance and technology teams, and good stakeholder management and engagement skills.
• Legal right to work in India; work visa sponsorship is not offered.

Required skills

• Knowledge of IFRS accounting principles.
• Experience with SAP or Hyperion.
• Strong analysis, problem-solving and control awareness.
