Assistant Manager - Purchase

About the role

We are looking for an Assistant Manager – Purchase to lead procurement activities for our manufacturing operations. The role ensures timely sourcing of BOM, CAPEX and MRO items, supports new product releases and drives cost‑reduction initiatives while collaborating closely with engineering and finance teams.

Key responsibilities

• Source and procure BOM, CAPEX and MRO items from at least two suppliers, both domestic and imported.
• Analyze quotations, negotiate prices and identify localization opportunities to lower production costs.
• Place purchase orders according to supplier lead times and monitor delivery to avoid plant shortages.
• Coordinate advance payments, COD and transport logistics for all shipments.
• Maintain accurate documentation for domestic and imported shipments and consolidate monthly shipping data for insurance purposes.
• Monitor supplier payments, work with the accounts team and improve payment terms to support cash‑flow management.
• Ensure procurement of energy‑efficient equipment based on lifecycle and energy‑efficiency criteria.
• Report key performance indicators weekly and monthly to senior management and adhere to TQM and X‑matrix processes.

Required profile

• B.Tech/B.E. in Mechanical Engineering.
• 6‑9 years of experience in procurement within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of sourcing strategies, import processes and supplier audits.

Required skills

• Oracle ERP (procurement module).
• Total Quality Management (TQM) practices.
• Knowledge of BIS standards and energy‑efficient product specifications.
