Area Sales Manager – General Trade (Odisha & Andhra Pradesh)

About the role

The Area Sales Manager – General Trade will lead sales growth, distribution expansion and demand generation for 3M’s Home Care portfolio across Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. Reporting to the Consumer Business Group, this individual‑contributor role owns territory performance and drives execution excellence at the distributor and outlet level.

Key responsibilities

• Achieve Annual Business Plan targets for the assigned General Trade territory.
• Drive secondary sales and point‑of‑sale sell‑out through on‑ground execution.
• Ensure right product, pack and price are available at the right outlets.
• Manage distributors and super‑stockists to guarantee uninterrupted product availability.
• Increase numeric and weighted distribution across kirana stores, wholesalers and traditional trade.
• Monitor range availability, stock rotation and placement to improve off‑take.
• Plan and execute trade programmes, schemes and in‑store activations for the Home Care division.
• Spend a minimum of 18 days per month in the market for outlet visits, distributor work and plan execution.
• Track competition activity, pricing movements and consumer behaviour.
• Build and maintain relationships with key GT outlets and wholesalers.
• Prepare accurate sales, distribution and market performance reports.
• Execute trade programmes within approved budgets and ensure timely claim settlements.

Required profile

• Willingness to travel extensively (minimum 18 days per month) across Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.
• Proven ability to manage distributor and outlet networks.
• Strong analytical mindset for tracking sales, distribution and market intelligence.
