Welding Engineer – HEIC

About the role

The Welding Engineer will support the design, qualification and execution of welding activities for high‑integrity equipment such as pressure vessels, reactors and heat exchangers. The role requires deep knowledge of welding metallurgy, codes and standards, and the ability to develop robust welding procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and qualify welding procedures and welder qualifications for groove, fillet, overlay and tube/tubesheet joints.
• Select appropriate welding processes, consumables and edge preparations based on productivity, feasibility and resource availability.
• Ensure compliance with ASME, EN ISO, API, WRC and ASTM codes and international standards.
• Perform failure analysis of weld and base‑metal defects and recommend corrective actions.
• Support mechanical testing (tensile, bend, impact, hardness) and non‑destructive testing (PT, MT, RT, UT) activities.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams on pressure vessel, reactor and heat‑exchanger fabrication.

Required profile

• Strong background in welding metallurgy of C‑Mn, CrMo/CrMoV, MnMoNi steels, austenitic and duplex stainless steels, and nickel‑based alloys such as Inconel.
• Hands‑on experience with a wide range of welding processes (SMAW, SAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, SASC, ESW).
• Familiarity with welding basics including pre‑heat, inter‑pass temperature, DHT, ISR, PWHT, defect control and consumable handling.
• Knowledge of pressure‑vessel, reactor and heat‑exchanger manufacturing practices.
