Welding Coordinator – Kolkata

About the role

Alstom is seeking a full-time Welding Coordinator for its Kolkata site. You will support the qualification of welding procedures and personnel, ensuring compliance with international standards while driving continuous improvement across production.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in the industrialisation phase of new projects and provide technical support to the Special Process expert during co-development.
• Develop and execute qualification plans for welding procedures, welders and operators in line with EN/ISO standards.
• Oversee prototype and first-assembly builds, guiding the transition to serial production.
• Address non-conformance reports (NCR) and propose effective corrective actions.
• Conduct workstation and on-shop-floor welding inspections, monitoring daily processes for deviations.
• Perform monthly audits of welding consumables stores and validate incoming welding wire quality and Material Test Certificates.
• Support welding audits such as EN 15085‑2, IRIS and maturity assessments.
• Lead continuous-improvement initiatives focused on quality, cost and delivery (QCD) and explore semi-automation opportunities.

Required profile

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering; IWP/IWS certification preferred.
• 5-10 years of experience in rolling-stock or heavy-fabrication welding, preferably as a coordinator.
• Strong knowledge of EN/ISO welding standards.
• Fluent in English, Hindi and Bengali.
• Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Team-oriented mindset with ability to work in global, diverse teams.
