Tax Accountant – VAT Specialist (EMEA)

About the role

Based in India, the Tax Accountant will support VAT compliance and advisory services for GP Strategies' operations across 21 EMEA countries. The role offers exposure to US sales tax and other direct taxes, providing a unique chance to work within a small, experienced in‑house tax team.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit EMEA VAT returns and EU sales lists.
• Liaise with in‑country accountants and external advisors.
• Process VAT payment requests to meet statutory deadlines.
• Perform VAT general ledger and turnover reconciliations, investigating reconciling items.
• Support accounting and audit processes for VAT liabilities/receivables.
• Assist the EMEA VAT Manager in identifying VAT opportunities and process improvements.
• Prepare global monthly tax account analysis.
• Handle audits, enquiries, foreign VAT refund claims, and ad‑hoc tax projects such as due diligence and new territory registrations.

Required profile

• Professional accounting or tax qualification.
• Significant indirect tax experience gained at a leading accountancy firm or in‑house multinational tax team.
• Strong English proficiency.
• Highly motivated, organized, and able to meet deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Analytical, innovative, with solid research and problem‑solving abilities.
