Staff Security Software Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Staff Security Software Engineer to design and build scalable security platforms that strengthen Coupang’s security posture. This hands‑on individual contributor role will lead the design and implementation of distributed systems, influence technical direction across teams, and partner with security, platform and engineering groups.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, development and delivery of high‑impact security engineering initiatives.
• Build scalable security platforms and distributed systems that address complex security challenges.
• Collaborate with Security, Engineering, Infrastructure and GRC teams to turn ambiguous requirements into production‑ready solutions.
• Drive architecture reviews, technical design reviews and enforce engineering best practices.
• Evaluate emerging technologies, AI capabilities and security solutions through prototypes and investigations.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across teams.

Required profile

• 8+ years of software engineering experience building large‑scale distributed systems.
• Strong technical leadership experience on complex, cross‑functional initiatives.
• Proficiency in one or more languages such as Java, Go, Python or C++.
• Experience designing, building and operating highly scalable, reliable software platforms.
• Hands‑on experience with cloud technologies, preferably AWS, including IAM, security controls, logging and access management.
• Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
