Senior Software Engineer II – Search & AI Platform

About the role

The Libra Team is part of Elsevier’s Search and AI Platform, building an Evaluation Platform for Subject Matter Experts to review AI‑generated medical content. As a Senior Software Engineer you will design and deliver robust frontend capabilities for this expert evaluation platform.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high‑performance frontend applications using React 18 and TypeScript.
• Build and enhance frontend capabilities for the Libra expert evaluation platform.
• Develop applications using React, TypeScript, Vite, NestJS/Node.js, and Playwright.
• Translate product requirements into technical solutions, development plans, and high‑quality implementations.
• Design and implement SPA architecture, routing, API integrations, and reusable UI components.
• Write and maintain unit, component, and end‑to‑end tests to ensure application quality.
• Champion clean code, SOLID principles, engineering best practices, and CI/CD quality standards.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and engineering teams while mentoring engineers and driving technical excellence.

Required profile

• 6+ years of professional experience in frontend software engineering, building scalable web applications.
• Strong hands‑on expertise in React 18, TypeScript, and modern JavaScript.
• Deep understanding of SPA architecture, React Router, data loaders/actions, and route‑based data flow.
• Experience with component libraries, modular styling, and reusable UI components.
• Proven ability to build reliable REST/API integrations using service‑layer patterns.
• Hands‑on experience with Vitest, Testing Library, ESLint, strict TypeScript, and CI quality gates.
• Practical knowledge of Vite, Yarn, Docker, nginx, AWS/ECS, and GitHub Actions.
• Experience working in Agile/Kanban environments with strong collaboration and problem‑solving skills.
