Software Engineer (On-Prem Technologies)

About the role

As an Engineer (MTS2) at NetApp in Bangalore, you will take part in the end-to-end development, validation and support of on-prem technologies. You will work with cross-functional teams including software, firmware and manufacturing to deliver robust, scalable and high-performance systems. The role calls for a strong foundation in building and testing low-level systems, firmware and software, and a growing familiarity with applying AI/GenAI tools to engineering work.

Required profile

• Typically a minimum of 2 years of related experience.

• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

Required skills

• Software development lifecycle and software testing concepts.
• Understanding of AI/ML and GenAI architecture and prompt engineering, and of using GenAI tools for diagnostics, scripting or daily engineering tasks.
• Networking: TCP/IP stack, computer networks, NFS, SMB, iSCSI, FC.
• OS fundamentals: Linux and Unix internals (kernel and networking), FreeBSD architecture, OS booting, BIOS/UEFI and GRUB bootloaders.
• Storage and hardware: NAS, SAN, NVMe, PCIe, Ethernet, RAID, SSDs, iSCSI and NVMe over Fabric.
• Programming in Python, C and C++, and exposure to writing and maintaining automation scripts.
