Software Engineer - Infrastructure Pipelines

About the role

Barclays is hiring a Software Engineer in Pune, India, within its Group Economic Crime COO business area. The role focuses on improving infrastructure and deployment pipelines, building and managing robust, scalable and secure infrastructure so that digital solutions are delivered smoothly. The contract is permanent.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and improve software that delivers business, platform and technology capabilities to customers and colleagues.
• Develop and deliver high-quality software using industry-aligned languages, frameworks and tools, keeping code scalable, maintainable and performance-optimized.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers and other engineers on requirements, solution strategies and integration.
• Take part in code reviews, share knowledge and stay up to date with technology trends.
• Follow secure coding practices and implement effective unit testing.

Required profile

• Experience maintaining and creating Java Spring Boot microservices and writing performance-oriented code.
• Ability to write and maintain GitLab pipelines and act as your own DevOps engineer.
• Ability to create and publish Docker images for each microservice; Kubernetes knowledge is essential.
• Ability to produce and consume messages to and from Kafka.
• Ability to write JUnit and Cucumber tests for features delivered with the team.
• Ability to write and manage Gradle scripts to build and publish artifacts.
• Highly valued: MongoDB read/write from microservices, OpenAPI specifications, Red Hat OpenShift, and AI tools such as Claude and Copilot.
