Software Engineer II – Cloud Checkout

About the role

Join Nike's Global Technology team as a Software Engineer II focused on building a high‑throughput, low‑latency Retail Stores Cloud Checkout. You will help modernize in‑store applications and deliver scalable, fault‑tolerant services that power the digital transformation of Nike stores worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain cloud‑native checkout services using Java and Spring Boot.
• Implement micro‑service architectures and domain‑driven design patterns.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to modernize in‑store applications and ensure high availability.
• Leverage AI‑first developer tools to accelerate coding and learning.
• Write test‑driven code and maintain automated test suites (JUnit, Mockito, Cucumber, Playwright).
• Monitor performance with Splunk, SignalFx, Kibana/Grafana and troubleshoot issues.
• Work with NoSQL (DynamoDB) and relational databases (MySQL, Oracle).
• Participate in CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and GitHub workflows.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of professional software development experience.
• Experience in distributed/cloud environments (AWS, GCE, Azure).
• Strong collaborative mindset within multi‑disciplinary, globally distributed teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
