SMT Equipment Technician

About the role

The SMT Equipment Technician is responsible for operating, maintaining and troubleshooting surface‑mount technology (SMT) equipment on a high‑mix electronics production line. The role ensures that all machines run efficiently and that products meet the company’s quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain SMT machines including SPI, Fuji, GKG printer, reflow ovens and AOI systems.
• Perform routine calibration, troubleshooting and breakdown analysis to minimise downtime.
• Program Fuji mounters, optimise cycle times and manage machine tossing control.
• Handle spare‑part inventory and coordinate spare‑part management.
• Support new product introductions, conduct CPK and GRR studies, and assist with machine installation and line bring‑up.
• Collaborate with line engineers, managers and supervisors to develop work schedules that achieve 100% on‑time delivery.
• Maintain a safe, clean work environment and ensure all stations produce defect‑free product.

Required profile

• Diploma in a related technical field.
• 3‑5 years of hands‑on experience with SMT equipment.
• Ability to work closely with line personnel to improve quality and productivity.

Required skills

• Experience with SPI, Fuji, GKG printer, reflow and AOI equipment.
• SMT machine maintenance, troubleshooting and calibration.
• Fuji mounter programming and cycle‑time reduction.
• Breakdown analysis, machine tossing control and spare‑part management.
• New product development, CPK and GRR analysis, machine installation.
