Skilled Technician – Level III

About the role

The Skilled Technician – Level III provides advanced technical support for manufacturing equipment, focusing on electrical, automation, robotics and production systems. Working with limited supervision, the technician ensures safe, reliable and efficient operation while driving continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive, predictive, corrective and emergency maintenance on electrical and control systems to maximise equipment availability.
• Troubleshoot and repair PLCs, drives, motion‑control devices, robotics (ABB, Yaskawa, FANUC, Universal Robots) and related automation hardware.
• Program and modify Siemens S7‑1500 PLCs using the TIA Portal, and maintain industrial networks such as PROFINET, OPC UA and TCP/IP.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis, implement corrective actions and support TPM and operational‑excellence activities.
• Maintain, calibrate and verify production tools, torque tools, nut runners and automated assembly equipment.
• Support spare‑parts planning, inventory management and equipment lifecycle activities.
• Apply Lockout‑Tagout, Job Safety Assessments and Cummins HSE procedures, reporting hazards and incidents promptly.

Required profile

• Technical background with several years of experience in industrial automation and equipment maintenance.
• Ability to work independently, coach team members and follow strict safety protocols.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and a focus on reliability and continuous improvement.

Required skills

• Siemens S7‑1500 PLC programming and TIA Portal.
• Robotics platforms: ABB, Yaskawa, FANUC, FANUC Cobots, Universal Robots.
• Industrial communication: PROFINET, OPC UA, TCP/IP.
• Motion control, drives and predictive‑maintenance techniques.
• Root‑cause analysis and TPM methodology.
• Lockout‑Tagout (LOTO) and Job Safety Assessment (JSA) procedures.
• Calibration of torque tools and automated assembly equipment.
