Senior Software Engineer – Storage

About the role

DigitalOcean is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the development and support of current and future storage platforms at scale. You will work on object storage, block volumes, backups, and image management, ensuring high‑performance, durable, and reliable services for customers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead engineering efforts to deliver innovative storage solutions.
• Support creation and operation of distributed systems.
• Program primarily in Go and contribute to other languages as needed.
• Collaborate with a motivated team of peers and open‑source communities.
• Solve complex, high‑scale problems in a technically rewarding environment.

Required profile

• 7+ years of experience with object or other distributed storage systems.
• Familiarity with storage solutions such as MinIO, Ceph, AWS S3, Scality, or similar.
• Experience maintaining availability and performance of storage products.
• Ability to work in an agile, self‑motivated team.
• Experience contributing to free and open‑source software communities.

Required skills

• Go programming language.
• gRPC.
• Distributed systems design.
• Object storage protocols (e.g., S3).
• Performance tuning and observability.
• Concurrency/parallelism models.
• Experience with Ceph, MinIO, or similar distributed data stores.
