Senior Software Engineer II – Search and AI Platform

About the role

We are looking for an innovative, passionate Senior Software Engineer to join the Search and AI Platform team at Elsevier. You will help build and enhance the Libra expert evaluation platform, delivering intelligent, scalable frontend solutions for our AI‑powered search services.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high‑performance frontend applications using React 18 and TypeScript.
• Build and enhance the Libra expert evaluation platform’s UI, integrating React, Vite, NestJS/Node.js, and Playwright.
• Translate product requirements into technical designs, development plans, and robust implementations.
• Implement SPA architecture, routing, API integrations, and reusable UI components.
• Write and maintain unit, component, and end‑to‑end tests to ensure quality and reliability.
• Champion clean code, SOLID principles, engineering best practices, and CI/CD quality standards.
• Collaborate with product managers and engineering teams while mentoring engineers.

Required profile

• 6+ years of professional frontend engineering experience building scalable web applications.
• Strong hands‑on expertise in React 18, TypeScript, and modern JavaScript.
• Deep understanding of SPA architecture, React Router, data loaders/actions, and route‑based data flow.
• Experience with component libraries, modular styling, and reusable UI components.
• Proven ability to build reliable REST/API integrations using service‑layer patterns.
• Hands‑on experience with Vitest, Testing Library, ESLint, strict TypeScript, and CI quality gates.
• Practical knowledge of Vite, Yarn, Docker, nginx, AWS/ECS, and GitHub Actions.
• Experience working in Agile/Kanban environments.
