Senior Software Engineer II – Billing Engineering

About the role

DigitalOcean is looking for a Senior Software Engineer II to join its Billing Engineering team in Bengaluru. You will own the operational health of the control‑plane billing platform, drive automation, and support new product launches while collaborating across engineering, finance, and product groups.

Key responsibilities

• Triaging and resolving escalated support tickets, including invoicing, collections, and tax inquiries.
• Developing automation tooling to reduce operational cost and improve time‑to‑resolution for billing and customer‑management tasks.
• Owning core billing platform operations such as credits, discounts, promotions, and coordination with tax, revenue accounting, and marketplace teams.
• Designing and maintaining internal tooling for revenue assurance and synthetic testing to prevent revenue leaks.
• Collaborating with architecture and cloud‑operations groups to ensure platform stability and operational excellence.
• Supporting operational aspects of new product launches and improving platform documentation.

Required profile

• Strong technical aptitude and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
• Proactive, detail‑oriented approach with ability to work independently.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.

Required skills

• Go programming language.
• Ruby (plus).
• Python and Shell scripting for automation.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, gRPC, Kafka, MySQL and Redis.
• Knowledge of distributed systems and microservices architectures.
