Senior Manager – Chassis Suspension & Elastomer Engineer

About the role

This senior manager position leads the development and validation of chassis and suspension components, focusing on elastomer materials and structural performance for new vehicle platforms. The role supports New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, ensuring that design, testing, and quality targets are met.

Key responsibilities

• Provide inputs to RFQ and DFMEA and prepare design validation plans (DVP) and RLDA analyses.
• Plan and execute static, dynamic, and durability performance tests for development and benchmark parts.
• Ensure timely release of FIR/Green reports and monitor product quality against material specifications during prototype development.
• Resolve field failures, drive product improvements, and benchmark chassis and suspension components.
• Generate cost‑reduction ideas, create technical guidelines, and develop new material technologies for Tata Motors products.
• Support ICR, IPTV reduction initiatives, and quality improvement programs.
• Lead new technology projects, file patents, and produce knowledge documents and design guidelines.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Metallurgy, Material Science or related technology.
• 4‑8 years of experience in automotive component development and testing, preferably with OEMs or Tier‑1 suppliers.
• Familiarity with international test standards such as ASTM, JIS and ISO.
• Exposure to manufacturing processes including steel casting, forging, welding, forming, rolling, heat treatment and composites.
• Experience with UTM, servo‑hydraulic and servo‑electric test rigs.
• Strong statistical and data‑analysis capabilities.
