Senior Linux Systems Engineer

About the role

Ensono is seeking a Senior Linux Systems Engineer to join its Linux Operations team in Chennai. The role involves hands‑on technical leadership for production Linux servers across hosted, cloud (AWS/Azure) and remote environments, driving incident resolution, automation and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead incident and problem management, performing root‑cause analysis and delivering permanent fixes for high‑priority and major incidents.
• Own service requests and operational tasks end‑to‑end, tracking MTTR and ensuring high availability and compliance.
• Develop and maintain SOPs, runbooks and disaster‑recovery procedures, supporting audit and compliance requirements.
• Create Ansible playbooks, shell scripts and other IaC assets to automate repetitive tasks and support Docker/Kubernetes deployments.
• Execute changes through ServiceNow, performing impact analysis, risk assessment and coordinating maintenance windows.
• Mentor junior engineers, provide technical guidance and contribute to team capability development.
• Communicate incident status and resolution timelines to internal teams and external clients, supporting SLA compliance.

Required profile

• 8+ years of production Linux/Unix administration (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) with advanced troubleshooting of kernel, networking and storage.
• Proven experience in 24/7 on‑call rotations, incident response and change‑risk management.
• Strong documentation skills, including SOP creation and technical knowledge sharing.

• Linux security tools: SELinux, AppArmor, firewalls, file permissions.
• Cloud platforms: AWS EC2, Azure VMs, Google Cloud VMs.
• Networking concepts: DNS, routing, load balancing.
• Monitoring: Datadog, Azure Monitor, Prometheus.
