Senior Design Engineer / Lead – Low Voltage Motors

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Design Engineer / Lead to own the end‑to‑end design and development of low voltage electrical motors. The role is a core R&D function within Bosch’s technology powerhouse in Coimbatore, responsible for product quality, cost competitiveness and design robustness.

Key responsibilities

• Take full ownership of the motor design lifecycle from concept through production release and field performance.
• Lead critical design decisions, architecture selection and engineering trade‑offs affecting cost, quality and performance.
• Drive root‑cause analysis of field failures, define corrective actions and implement permanent design changes.
• Initiate and execute cost‑reduction projects through design optimisation, material changes and process improvements.
• Develop and validate DFX (DFA/DFM) strategies to ensure manufacturability and scalability.
• Define load cycles, analytical models and validation criteria for design robustness.
• Manage tolerance stack‑up strategy and ensure functional compliance across operating conditions.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, QMM, Procurement and Suppliers for seamless product industrialisation.
• Govern engineering documentation, CAD models and BOM structures in NX, Teamcenter and SAP.
• Drive engineering change management (ECN/ECR) with impact analysis and cross‑functional alignment.
• Act as technical authority for internal reviews, audits and customer escalations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in end‑to‑end motor design and development, preferably low‑voltage motors.
• Strong R&D background with ability to make critical engineering decisions.
• Experience collaborating with cross‑functional teams such as Manufacturing, Quality, Procurement and Suppliers.
• Ability to lead root‑cause investigations and implement design‑driven corrective actions.
• Familiarity with engineering change management processes.
