Senior Accountant – Global Business Services

About the role

Mastercard is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join its Global Business Services organization in India. The role focuses on governance and review of Balance Sheet reconciliations across multiple entities and regions, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and compliance with corporate policies and accounting standards.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary reviewer for Balance Sheet account reconciliations, verifying compliance with GAAP, IFRS, and internal policies.
• Evaluate the quality, accuracy, and completeness of reconciliations prepared by teams across various business units and geographies.
• Monitor reconciliation timelines, escalating issues or delays to leadership as needed.
• Maintain a governance framework to enforce strong internal controls over reconciliation processes.
• Review supporting documentation, substantiate balances, and explain variances.
• Identify and report unusual balances, aged reconciling items, and potential risks to the financial statements.
• Collaborate with preparers, business units, and global stakeholders to resolve issues and drive consistency.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Senior Accountant with a focus on Balance Sheet reconciliations.
• Strong analytical abilities and a governance mindset.
• Ability to work with global teams and manage cross‑regional processes.
• In‑depth knowledge of GAAP and IFRS accounting standards.
