ROM Leading Hand – Mining Operations

About the role

We are seeking an experienced ROM Leading Hand to join our mining team at Simberi Operations in Papua New Guinea. Reporting to the Mining Supervisor, you will help lead surface mine activities, ensure safety compliance, and meet production targets on a 21/14 roster.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain compliance with company safe operating procedures.
• Assist the Mining Supervisor in supervising daily open‑pit mining, equipment utilisation and personnel.
• Assign daily work tasks, record performance and promote equipment housekeeping.
• Communicate company policies and provide guidance on personal matters to mining staff.
• Identify skill gaps, propose training and support safety inspections.
• Participate actively in departmental safety meetings and promote a safety‑first culture.

Required profile

• Minimum five (5) years of experience in mining operations, including at least two (2) years in a similar leading hand role.
• Current Papua New Guinea driver’s licence.
• Ability to work safely and responsibly in a remote, roster‑based environment.
• Behaviour consistent with St Barbara’s values.
