Principal Engineer – Plumbing & Fire Protection

About the role

The Principal Engineer will lead the design of public health engineering services for railway stations and related infrastructure. Working independently or within a multidisciplinary team, you will coordinate with the WSP India‑Australia team and mentor junior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Design domestic cold and hot water systems, pipe sizing, and secondary hot water loops.
• Specify water heater storage, sizing, and heating solutions (electric point‑of‑use, boiler/calorifier, ASHP) according to ASHRAE and local codes.
• Develop heat‑tracing designs, foul drainage, grease/oil interceptors, sewage lift stations, dewatering, and sump pump sizing.
• Size roof rainwater gutters, open‑channel drains, septic tanks, soak pits, and design conventional or siphonic rainwater systems.
• Apply NFPA, AU, UAE, Indian, BS, and NBC standards to fire detection, alarm, and protection systems.
• Perform multidisciplinary coordination, client meetings, RFI responses, and prepare design reports across all project stages.
• Ensure health & safety compliance for self and team.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in international plumbing and fire‑protection design projects.
• Strong technical knowledge of relevant codes (NFPA, NBC, BS, AU, Indian).
• Proven ability to lead teams, manage client interactions, and mentor junior staff.
• Fluent English with excellent technical terminology.
